Brand New From Rock-A-Shaka!

The Rock A Shaka Crew are bringing the heat again with another massive repress selection of Alton Ellis' 45 "Again" backed with Hortense Ellis on side B with "Love Is The Key". What an absolute stormer, especially the Hortense Ellis side! Rocka A Shaka have also repressed a 12" of Alton's "Love to Share/Let Him Try" which are both quality soul chunes. Big ups to Tim P at Dance Crasher for bringing this to light! Available (USA) through Rock A Shaka.

The Hammond Organ and Reggae

The early Reggae years from 1968-1973 were filled with keyboard instrumentals from Jamaican keyboardists like Winston Wright, Jackie Mittoo, Ansell Collins, Neville Hinds, and Glen Adams. These cuts were mostly inspired by American Soul-Jazz and Funk a la Jimmy McGriff, Jack McDuff, Jimmy Smith, Johnny Hammond, and Booker T. Jones who were all cutting some serious funk in the late 60's and early 70's. Here's a selection of some popular and lesser known Hammond Reggae cuts straight outta the Early Reggae Era.
